At Pluto’s Place you’ll find a kennel free, cozy home environment with a large deck and yard that’s like a 5 star resort for your dog. We consider Pluto’s Place to be a premium service for your pet, as we operate based on your dog’s schedule and according to their needs first and foremost, unlike at a large kennel. Visit us at plutosplaceajax..... Our rates vary based on service, and the size & temperament of the dog. Throughout the day, we will provide pictures and video updates of your dog on our Instagram account (@plutosplaceajax), and sent directly to you. We only accept 3-5 dogs at any time, and all dogs are vetted carefully to make sure the pack they’ll be spending time with when they’re here is a good fit for them. We accept most dogs who play well with others, are well trained, and who can follow basic commands. Daycare hours: Our regular operating hours are 8am to 6pm. Extended hours are available at an additional rate. About Pluto’s Place: We have three friendly and very social beagles who love the company of other dogs. Pluto is a 2 year old male, Betsy is an 8 year old female foster (from Big on Beagles Rescue), and Tango is a 13 year old female. We do daily walks by the waterfront and throughout the neighbourhood and parks. We have a lovely large backyard full of toys, a large deck to lounge on, and two living rooms with couches and dog beds to satisfy the comfort of all dogs. My Schedule: I’m home full time, which allows me to prioritise your dog’s comfort and needs. I’m available most days, weekends, and holidays for daycare, boarding, walks, and drop-ins. Safety, Care, & Wellbeing I will always prioritise the safety, comfort, and well-being of your dog at all times. I am insured with ProFur and have completed my pet CPR training. Keeping your dog safe and happy while they are with us is my main priority. Your dog will be treated equally to our dogs, as it is my goal that your dog feels like a member of our home while they are with us. Crates: We don’t crate our dogs, but will happily accommodate dogs who are. We also have crates available for time outs (if that’s part of their regular routine), for quiet spaces for sleep and relaxation for anxious dogs who choose it, and for safety purposes in the event that they are needed. We do meet and greets with all our visiting dogs beforehand and insist upon hosting dogs who are well trained and obey commands. However, sometimes problems can arise that are unanticipated. This is also why we supervise the dogs while they’re together. Safety is our top priority. How Many Dogs?: For the comfort of all concerned, I currently have a limit of 3-5 dogs that I’m willing to host at a time, depending on the unique needs and energy levels of the dogs currently booked. This ensures that I can provide the time and attention each dog requires, keeping Pluto’s Place more like a “home away from home” - not a kennel. First Time Meet & Greet: For safety reasons, meet and greets are mandatory at Pluto’s Place upon a booking confirmation. Free of charge, these initial meetings for our first time guests are necessary to ensure that Pluto’s Place is not only a safe place, but a good match for your dog, our dogs, us, and any potential guests who may arrive while your dog is staying with us. Meet & Greet Process: The entire process takes about 30 mins. My husband and I will meet you and your dog on our front lawn or front porch to see how your dog initially responds to us. If our initial meeting is a success, we’ll move to the next step and introduce you and your dog to our two beagles, Pluto & Tango. If our dogs hit it off, we’ll move the process along by inviting you and your dog on a tour of our home and yard to see if the environment we provide is a good fit. If everything checks out okay, we’ll allow the dogs 10-15 mins of play time (usually in our backyard, weather permitting) to see how they get along. We’re on Instagram!
