Most Popular Dog Names of 2015
Choosing the perfect name for your dog requires a lot of thought. You don’t want to be cringing at the name years later. But, on the other hand, if yelling out, “Come back here, Madam Sassy Pants!” across the dog park is totally okay with you, then we’re cool with it too.
We’ve compiled the 20 most popular dog names of 2015. There are some regular contenders in there plus a few surprises. What can you do with this list? Well, if you’re having trouble choosing a name for your tail-wagger, something from this list will do just fine. Or, use it as a “do not name my dog this” list if you are looking for a name that no other dog has. Without further ado, here are the names:

Max, last year’s most popular dog name, has been pushed down the list slightly and replaced with the now loveable Cooper. Bella had been at or near the top of most popular female dog names for years, first creeping up on us with the release of the first Twilight movie. 2015 has either resulted in people wanting something a little different or seen a rise in vampire haters because Bella has been kicked from her number one spot all the way down to number nine. The lovely name Lila has replaced it as most popular female dog name this year.
Max and Jack have long been popular names and this is unlikely to change anytime soon. Cooper and Bear also continue to hold and even raise their popularity from previous years. Sophie has remained on the popular dog name list for years now and will probably be sticking around for awhile. The ever-creative name “Dog” has been replaced with the slightly cuter but just as straight-to-the-point “Puppy”.
Do our puppy-naming habits reflect our human-naming habits? They do, to an extent. Jack is also in 2015’s most popular list for baby boy names. While Sophie isn’t at the top for baby girl names, similar names Sophia and Sofia have made it very high up.
