“What did humans do to deserve dogs?” I’ve been an avid animal-lover all of my life. My experiences started as a young child when I would accompany my mother, a dog obedience trainer, to her classes on weeknights. I have been around dogs and other animals for over 25 years. I fostered dogs from the animal shelter throughout university and worked with them until they were able to find a forever home. Whether your pup is large or small, a senior who requires special attention or an energetic puppy who wants to play, I would be just thrilled to meet and help out with your furry friend! I have personally kept and cared for dogs, cats, birds and reptiles, aquarium fish and basic horse care. I have professional experience as a biologist, aquarist, and pet care and husbandry manager - I take great pride in knowing that animals are properly kept and cared for, and ensuring they get as much love as they give to us! I am an outdoorsy type person and always looking for a good reason to get outside. Sadly I am currently without a canine companion after 14 fulfilling and loving years with my Chesapeake Bay Retriever - I will absolutely treat your pets as if they were my own. I have a lot of love (and no shortage of petting) to give! I currently have two pleasantly plump goldfish in a beautiful 75-gallon aquarium. Although I do not have the capacity to offer space in my home, I can visit yours for pet-sitting, drop-ins, and dog walking. To minimize stress, I recommend keeping your pet in its familiar home environment. I am able to give medications as directed and have experience with diabetic cats needing insulin injections and blood glucose testing. I also have experience with reactive and difficult dogs and can offer training tips. I would like to do a meet-and-greet with your dog (and/or other pets) before offering services.
