Pet Sitter in Torrington, Connecticut

Hello! My name is Christina and I live in the Torrington area. I have a Task Trained Service Dog (to help me out with Autism and PTSD symptoms and to alert and respond to Migraines) who I co-trained with a program called Possibility Dogs Inc. Because of his job helping me, my Service Dog goes with me everywhere, however I can leave him home for a short time if needed, such as when working with pets who are not friendly with other animals. I also have a pet cat, fish, and bearded dragon. I love animals and have been working with them since my teen years. When I was in Middle School I walked dogs and cleaned the cat box for a few neighbors in our Condo development in Louisville, KY. When we moved to Connecticut, neighbors weren't as close to find pet sitting jobs, so I volunteered at the Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy in Litchfield for 6 years in Middle and High School. There I kept the fences clear of debris, cleaned ponds, helped catch birds for vet care, and assisted with daily feeding and exercising of the birds. During College I worked at The Planet Dog Company Store in Portland, Maine, where I learned a lot about canine and feline nutrition, exercise, and care. I got to know a lot of customers and did wind up pet sitting and walking some of my favorites. I moved back to Connecticut last year and was working in a care home for a while, but I was unable to bring my Service Dog (for his safety, as one of the residents was very violent) and was unable to stay long, as a result. I started working at The Home Depot in New Hartford early in the Summer. I have missed working with dogs and other pets, so I would like to get back into it. I have sat for mostly cats and dogs, however I have watched people's reptiles, fish, and small mammals, as well. I have had dogs, cats, gerbils, iguanas, Ball Pythons, and Bearded Dragons as pets and have worked with birds, horses, rabbits, hamsters, and guinea pigs. I am knowledgeable about pet care and enjoy learning more about animal husbandry, so I am sure I can help out with whatever pet you need help with! I can do walks or check ins during the day while you're at work or watch pets while you are out of town (in your home unless they are friendly and small, in which case they can stay at my home). I can also work on some light training with your pet if there are behavioral issues you need help with and help point you towards further resources if your pet needs.
