My pet-related experience is as follows: I have had pets to care for all my life since I was a little kid breeding and selling hamsters and sugar gliders to adopting my first cats from high-risk lifestyles, spending the majority of my life on a farm as a primary overseer for the needs and happiness of almost every animal in the book and having always been the proud owner of at least both a dog and a cat of my own, who have all enjoyed/continue to enjoy extensively long and rich lives. As a young adult I spent many hours volunteering at the SPCA, am well-versed in the study of training techniques, grooming, basic pet first-aid, general dog and cat psychology including things like stress management, socialization, handling aggression at dog parks, with young children and have even begun research into the many in’s and out’s of service dog training not to mention a entertaining foray into dog-sledding. I have also been a member of the PETA first responder/action team since before I was an adult and still make donations annually. I am a semi-retired settled down father with flexible shared custody of 2 young kids and as such plan to be a resident in Calgary for the long term and have a very open schedule.
