Pet Sitter in Ottawa, Ontario

Hi, I'm David. I live in east Orleans. I retired from the federal government in April 2014, after providing 36 years of faithful service to Canadians, my peers and associates in other government circles. During my 36-year career, entirely with DND, I filled various positions involving responsibilities related to: Administrative Support; Human Resources Programs; Communications and Marketing & Advertising. We owned 4 dachshunds: Dolce (age 8), Cali (age 7), Charlotte (age 4) and Tootie (age 7), a rescue dog. Unfortunately, Dolce, our eldest furry child succumbed to pancreatic and liver cancer in July 2016. Cali is full-size (weighs about 33 pounds) and Charlotte and Tootie weigh about 14 pounds). Oh, did I mention how much each one enjoys acting like a comedian or a clown? As a retiree, I am able to spend a lot of time caring for and loving our dogs. They're really not much different than children, yet they ask for so little and provide so much in return: unconditional love, loyalty, protection and affection to name but a few of their attributes. Each has its own peculiar character and personality, so I purposely treat them equitably according to each one's individual needs. To be truthful, they are spoiled rotten, and why not? Every night, each one sleeps in our beds, with me, my wife or my son. Although they recognize who's in charge, you can be sure that, if I allow them to, they will take every inch I might give them. They are God's creatures and deserve to be treated with the love and affection they themselves provide. If you've ever followed any of my Facebook commentary on animals, and especially those posts which have to do with mistreated animals or animals which are simply left behind because owners tire from taking care of them (collectively referred to as rescue dogs, cats or other unfortunate animals), you would be able to obtain a glimpse into my respect and love for God's creatures and the disdain I have for people who hurt poor defenseless creatures. As I pen this short message to you, our dachshunds are basking in the sunshine while taking up my entire couch leaving me with very little space to squeeze in to enjoy my morning coffee. Hey, but that’s fine by me, seeing that they have their own daily routines and habits. A while back, we had a sign that hung prominently in our home that read: “Our pets are members of our family. If their habits or presence disturb you, you are kindly invited to leave whenever you wish.” We took the sign down after a while, since most of the people we hang with have no problems whatsoever with our dogs. I could say much more, but thought I'd bring a bit of a personal touch to my profile. BTW, the photo you see on my profile is of Charlie, our Texan connection (i.e. my wife bought her from a professional breeder in Texas). Now, she's a real handful that one, but you couldn't ask for a better table companion and entertainer at supper time, if she happens to find an empty chair to sit/stand on! Charlie (a.k.a. Charlotte) sure looks innocent, especially with those devilish, cute little puppy eyes, right? Don't be fooled! When she was a year old, we called her the Kraken, after the legendary sea monster, known for its massive destruction capabilities. In summary, Your furry child is in good hands as I abide by the Golden Rule. That is, I treat animals, God's creatures, the way I would like to be treated. David Deslauriers (613-424...)
