My s first sentence was \"sit dog sit\" and I have been training and working with dogs ever since! My family has raised, bred, or trained dogs, horses, African Grey Parrots, other birds, hawks, goats, sheep, donkeys, and more. While I have had experience training dogs and other animals for a multitude of tasks, the most important training I have done was of my DAD or Diabetic Alert Dog. I have type one diabetes, and after several nights of serve lows, I got Maple and began self-training her to alert me. She barks, scratches, and even \'gets help\' if I go low in the middle of the night. She also alerts me in public/while I am out. I am currently training her to alert for \'highs\' as well. Dogs are my first love, but I am comfortable and experienced with other kinds of pets, and can be available to exercise or groom as while as train. I have just trained a diabetic alert dog, Maple, who consistently wakes me up at night if my blood sugar drops too low, as well as alerting me during the day and in public. I am a Type One Diabetic, and I think a dog is a great option for anyone sometimes unaware of going low, or who tends to go low late at night--Maple has already saved my life more than once.
