Pet Sitter in Frederick, Maryland

I'm an
Agency / Company
Summary: I love all types of animals and have cared for all types! I started pet sitting as a pre-teen and at 16 I had many clients both at their homes as well as staying with me. I have had and cared for all types of animals my whole life...dogs, cats, snakes, horses, turtles, lizards guinea pigs, fish you name it! There is no animal at this point that I am not comfortable caring for. While I was first growing my horse business I supplemented my income by working for a dog walking company. I truly appreciate the opportunity to care for all types of animals, it gave me experience with more exotics. But, I knew there were things I would have done differently. My quality of care was very important to me. The quality/length of visits, spending more time with each animal friend, and making sure I allowed myself time to check every animal for any issues were always a priority to me.There is a place for those businesses, but I knew I could do better. I worked for a reputable horse trainer/Basset breeder for about 4 years after high school. I then opened my own business and ran my own H/J Horse Show Barn for 15 years. I trained horses and riders as well as cared for all of the animals. I have spent my entire life caring for, and training, horses. I have also worked with top notch dog breeding programs taking care of the animals, and helped with the process all the way from helping to get them breed, assisting many time the whelping,as well as C-sections, and finally the weaning process. All the breeding programs I have worked with have been very high quality, with the dogs well-being, including being over-bred, was a priority. Some of the programs were smaller and the largest one had over 100 chocolate labs (where Clinton got his chocolate.) I have also had the amazing opportunity to assist both small animal and large animal vets do procedures. Including but not limited to administer IV sedation or pain relief, and have even helped perform surgeries (C-Sections, castrations and others) with the vets guidance. Additionally, I have a lot of experience working with older and handicapped dogs. One of my dogs was in a wheelchair for several years. I give shots, IV fluids, worm and can medicate any way needed. I can do eye meds, oral, IV, IM and subcutaneous ly. This gave me the experience to offer Pet Aftercare, a sort of step down after a veterinary stay before they return home. Any issue that could come up My extensive experience with handicap or older dogs provides my clients with the reassurance that their animal that has special needs will be in great hands. When I was pregnant with my twins a few years ago I was forced to close my horse business due to a prolonged hospitalization. Being the animal person I am I naturally wanted to bring more of them in my life! I have been pet sitting most of my life, so increasing the frequency of doing so was a no brainier! Since doing so, in addition to the dogs I had been watching for years, I have developed a group of dogs that visit me regularly. I love doing "doggie daycare" and have an amazing dog that visits most weekdays. About two years ago I started volunteering for a local rescue, offering some of my time as a Foster Mommy. I typically foster litters of puppies until they are adopted out.Sometimes they come to me when it is time to wean them. However, often the puppies come with their mother still with them and nursing. I would then do the weaning process here and care for the litter until they are ready to find a home. There are times I have an older Foster dog in the house as well, in addition to my two year old "foster failure." However, when I know in advance about a pet sitting in my home I will refrain from bringing another dog. I do a lot of dog training and housebreaking, especially with the fosters we have had. I love the results I have seen with clicker training, so that is my preferred method. But, I am willing to use another approach when the owner prefers. I also can provide grooming for my furry friends when they come to stay! I provide bath with blow dry, grooming, touch up trims or complete cut downs, oral care, ear cleaning and nail trimming. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Description of Skills: I have over 25 years of experience caring for all types of animals, most frequently horses and dogs. I have experience in normal daily care, included feeding, playing with and exercising. I also have extensive experience caring for animals that require special care. From caring for exotics to medicating/proving extra care for medicated or handicapped animals...I have done it all! I also have years experience grooming and training different types of animals.
